Study Comm Meeting Minutes June 29, 2011CSSU RED Study Committee June 29, 2011 Members Present: Zoe Erdman, Brian O’Regan, Wendy Goodrich, Mary Catherine Jones, Jeanne Jensen, Charlie Magill, Deb Baker-Moody, Sue Thibault, Chris Kapsalis, Russ Caffry, Colleen MacKinnon, Bob Mason, Elaine Pinckney Members Absent: Bob Goudreau, Lisa Falcone, Rich Lowrey Approval of June 6, 2011 Minutes ACTION: Jeanne Jensen made the motion to approve the minutes as amended. Russ Caffry seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Review of Statewide Status, CESU, ANWSU The committee reviewed what is happening throughout the state for Act153 merger activities. Discussion ensued of the work done in these towns in terms of voluntary merger, RED study undertaking and preliminary RED research under way. Review of Draft CSSU Status Report Would make change to say on page 2, “The committee acknowledges that “local control” could be a concern to communities.” ACTION: Chris Kapsalis made the motion to accept the CSSU Status Report with the above amendment. Jeanne Jensen seconded. Motion carried unanimously. This long version full report will be posted on the CSSU website. In an addition to the long version, a condensed version will be created to satisfy length requirements for local papers. Review of Appendix B (Choice) The committee reviewed Attachment B – School Choice Options. Allen Brook School needs to be changed to PreK-Grade 2 and Williston Central School changed to Grade3-Grade 8. Transportation section needs to be revised to clarify the RED board may consider transportation options. A Q&A sheet will be designed before a public forum is held. Review of Articles if Agreement (CESU) The committee reviewed the draft Articles of Agreement. Amendments were suggested for the document. Committee should review this substantive material before the next meeting and come prepared to provide comments on the document. Next meeting A DoodlePoll will be sent out to determine what date works best for the committee. A local control meeting will be determined as well. |
