Art Education here at Shelburne Community School educates the Whole child, focusing on learning intrapersonally and interpersonally. Our student centered curriculum involves the community and the world at large, while promoting self-esteem and well-being by encouraging students to express themselves. Through seeking solutions to creative problems, students use high order thinking skills while exploring art materials and concepts, making creative cultural connections, and linking to other subject matter. Students become life-long learners through building meaningful relationships, differentiated instruction, and guided exploration. Students may not become professional artists, but they will be citizens of a world that will reward them for their creativity.
