News from the PTO

Visiting Artist Jon Gailmor starts his week in residence at SCS Friday, April 13. Each 5th grade class will work extensively with Jon to compose their own songs. Jon will also work with many K-4 grade classes. A concert of the 5^th graders’ pieces’ will be Wednesday evening, April 18.

Dynamic Dates was an amazing success, bringing in $1681!! A huge thanks to Kim Schmitt for organizing this event, and to the teachers & staff who provided Dates.

Got an artist in your household? PTO is again holding a contest for designing the cover art for our School Directory. Students in grades 3-7 may pick up info from the Art Teachers; entries must be submitted by May 1.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon will be Tuesday, May 8. This is always a well-loved event for our SCS team of teachers and staff. Parents contribute vegetables and desserts. We hire La Villa to provide hot pasta dishes. Q: Valerie Richardson.

Jogathon will return this year on Thursday, May 24 (rain-date Friday May 25). All children will participate during the school day. Information and pledge packets will come home by May 11th. A $15 pledge per student allows us to reach our goal! Information on volunteering for this event will be in the packets that are sent home. Next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, May 8, 6 PM, Alpha Space. As always, pizza and babysitting will be provided. This will be our final evening meeting of the 11/12 year.

Mark on your calendars:

Walk to School Wednesdays, all through May. Meet on the Town Parade at 7:30 AM. Administrators, Wellness Committee members, and PTO volunteers will be on hand to walk with the children.

Tuesday, June 5, 3 PM, Library. Final PTO meeting of the year—Come celebrate with teachers and staff (and treats!). We elect (or re-elect officers) and plan next year’s dates.
