The Grade Cluster &
Task #: Grade Cluster 9-12, Task # 3 The Product/Performance: A report that uses data to support of refute a hypothesis The Components: Basic
Operations, Database The Task: Students will create a
hypothesis on a given topic.
Using digital tools, they will capture data from a variety of sources
and construct a database file.
They will sort the records, search using multiple criteria and
generate a report supporting or refuting their hypothesis. Rationale: Given
the amount of data on any topic, students need to understand how to organize
that data into usable information so that others can benefit from their
understanding. Sorting,
searching and reporting information will be much faster and give the students
tools to query large volumes and concentrate on the meaning of the data
rather than the rote manipulation. |
